  •   Don Soderquist, Founding Executive
    Don Soderquist, Founding Executive
    Don Soderquist is the business leader for whom our Center is named and officially serves as our Executive in Residence, providing direction and inspiration to our team.  In addition, he teaches in the John Brown University graduate program, but spends a majority of his time traveling the world challenging today's leaders to shape the future of business practice. Don served Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. for over 20 years, most recently as Senior Vice Chairman. Continuing Sam Walton's legacy, he became known as the keeper of the culture. Don led the company as Chief Operating Officer during a period of exponential growth as Wal-Mart grew from the largest retailer in the world to the largest company in the world, reaching into ten countries and employing over 1.4 million people.


  •   Andy Wilson, CEO
    Andy Wilson, CEO - awilson@jbu.edu
    Andy Wilson serves as our Chief Executive Officer. He provides leadership in allareas of the Center, managing Center resources and serving to fulfill the visionof SCLE.  He is also an adjunct professor for John Brown University, teaching a graduatecourse entitled 'Leading Change'. Prior to his tenure with The Soderquist Center for Leadership and Ethics, Andy spent 25 years as an innovative leader at Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. He dedicated more than 10 years as Vice President and Officer of Store Operations, supervising over 100 stores and 10,000 associates in the Southern, Southeast and Western regions of the United States. Most recently, he served for 6 years as Vice President of People Division (HR) for all domestic store operations, including over 700,000 associates and management staff. He assisted in Succession Planning, HR People Measurement Systems, Training and Development, Compensation and Benefits Systems and Executive Coaching. Andy speaks globally on the issues of Leadership, Ethics, Retail Store Operations and Human Resources. He also serves on numerous boards, including CP Morgan, Southern Pipe & Supply, Central States Manufacturing, and Chairman of Circle of Life, a hospice organization serving 120 patients each week. In his spare time, Andy can be found cycling or fly fishing the rivers and streams of Arkansas.

  •   Chuck Hyde, Director of Business Development
    Chuck Hyde, Director of Business Development - chyde@jbu.edu
    Chuck Hyde is our Director of Business Development. He has been with the Center since 2005, working with leaders to help them understand the practical solutions the Center can bring to the business and organizational challenges they face. Chuck also serves as a senior consultant and is responsible for expanding the Center’s reach in the marketplace, assessing customer needs and determining how to deploy the Center's resources to serve them. Prior to his work at the Center, Chuck was a team leader for Kimberly-Clark Corporation, having worked for 12 years in personal care products supply chain operations. His professional experience includes roles in operations, operations support functions, and project leadership. This experience provides significant insight into some of the greatest challenges leaders face and a connection to the alternatives that exist to meet them. Chuck is a die-hard Razorback fan and loves calling the Hogs with 70,000 of his closest friends.

  •   Wendy Soderquist Togami, Director of Emerging Leaders
    Wendy Soderquist Togami, Director of Emerging Leaders - wsoderquist@jbu.edu
    Wendy Soderquist Togami serves as our Director of Emerging Leaders. An excellent communicator and implementer, Wendy brings over 15 years of leadership experience to her work with the emerging leader population, and the Center's work with the not-for-profit industry. Wendy continues to play a vital role in the Center's mission and vision as it grows to meet the challenges of the marketplace, and she provides research, speaking, and facilitation across industries. Wendy brings experience in innovative leadership development from several colleges and universities, including 8 years of student leadership development at Taylor University. She is a graduate of Taylor and received her Master of Arts in Higher Education from Ball State University. She serves on the boards of the Lake Geneva Youth Camp in Wisconsin, the Soderquist Family Foundation and is active in board development and capacity building for not-for-profit organizations. Her particular passion is speaking about leadership issues as they relate to women. In her spare time, Wendy enjoys running and playing tennis with her husband, Kai, and enjoying their 6 young-adult children.

  •   Les Gleaves, Director of Customized Solutions
    Les Gleaves, Director of Customized Solutions - lgleaves@jbu.edu
    Les Gleaves serves as our Director of Customized Solutions. An excellent facilitator, manager, and leader, Les and his team design and facilitate projects, services to our diverse customer base.  Les has over 30 years experience in talent management and organizational development. He comes to SCLE as the former Wal-Mart Manager of Home Office People Development, having served over 14,000 Home Office Associates spread across 15 divisions. With extensive international experience, Les was chosen to be the first Wal-Mart facilitator to work in Tokyo with Seiyu Stores. He has also done facilitative work in the U.S. mainland, Hawaii, American Samoa, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Switzerland, and Japan. He is also a grandfather (13 times) and enjoys being at home with wife, Nancy, and their other family member, a Bischon Frise named Sammi.

  •   Gary Swyers, Director of Customer Experience
    Gary Swyers, Director of Customer Experience - gswyers@jbu.edu
    Gary Swyers serves as our Director of Customer Experience. An experienced outdoor leadership and experiential learning instructor, Gary oversees operations and facilitation at Greystone Estate and BaseCamp.  Prior to his work with the Center, Gary served as the Director of the Center for Experiential Learning at Indiana Wesleyan University. He has extensive outdoor and education experience, having contributed to the development of adventure leadership programs, college level courses, three ropes courses, and an international service program for university students. When off the ropes course or out of the office, Gary is riding his motorcycle or gardening.

  •   John Copeland, Executive in Residence

    John Copeland is a professor of Business at John Brown University and Executive in Residence for The Soderquist Center. Copeland was executive vice president for ethics and compliance for Tyson Foods, Inc. Prior to joining Tyson Foods, Inc. in 1998, Dr. Copeland was director of the Natural Center for Agricultural Law Research and Information. In addition to his corporate and educational experience, Dr. Copeland is an accomplished author and speaker. He has authored or co-authored more than 90 publications, including books, book chapters, law review and journal articles, trade journal articles and other publications. He has presented more than 140 seminar lectures to universities, organizations and business throughout the United States and Scotland.

    Dr. Copeland’s educational credentials include: Doctorate of Higher Education Administration from the University of Arkansas, a Master of Laws in Agricultural Law from the University of Arkansas School of Law, and a Juris Doctorate from Southern Methodist University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Arlington.

    Dr. Copeland and his wife, Vannette, are the parents of three grown children. They are active members of Fellowship Bible Church in Lowell.

    Sandy Tush serves as a Customized Solutions Manager/Facilitator. She is involved with the creation and facilitation of both customized and open enrollment programs. This work includes the utilization of a variety of assessment instruments to help leaders identify their development needs. Sandy brings 24 years of experience in education and people development.  She served as the Executive Development Center program manager at Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. before joining our team. Prior to that she held the position of Content Developer/ Facilitator for Home Office People Development. Sandy has multiple certifications including Professional in Human Resources, Discovering EQ, Birkman Method, and many more. Look for Sandy on local running trails.

    Heather Davidson serves as a Customized Solutions Manager/Facilitator. Her responsibilities are customer-driven, developing and delivering customized programs as well as providing ongoing support to the customer’s leadership team during project implementation.  Heather comes to the Center from OU MEDICAL CENTER in Oklahoma City where she served as an Organizational Development Consultant. Her work with the Executive and Senior Leadership teams provided opportunity to hone her skills in leadership and organizational development, and project management. She holds a Master of Arts in Organization Dynamics from the University of Oklahoma and is a graduate of the University of Arkansas where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and Health Professions. Heather resides in Fayetteville with her husband, Dustin, a corporate pilot and two loving pets. She loves mysteries and detective work...in novels, movies and TV shows.

    Loren Hancock serves as our Manager, Faith-Based Programs. Previously, he served as the Director of Development, and was responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with donors and strategic partners of The Soderquist Center.  His current responsibilities include managing the delivery of the renewal conferences for pastors and their spouses while maintaining consistency with the philosophy of The Soderquist Center. Additionally, he develops relationships with pastors and denominational leaders in Arkansas and surrounding states to broaden the reach of the enrichment program. Loren has been married to his wonderful wife, Leslie for 31 years and has three daughters,two son-in laws and five grandchildren. Loves to jog, trail bike and play golf.

  •   Holly Byars, Customer Relations and Communications Manager
    Holly Byars, Customer Relations and Communications Manager hbyars@jbu.edu
    Holly Byars serves as our Customer Relations and Communications Manager. She is responsible for marketing planning and strategy, advertising and public relations. Having held marketing and public relations roles in the healthcare, academic and financial realms, Holly brings a breadth of experience to the Center. She is a graduate of Arkansas State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Radio/TV News and completed her internship at CNN in Atlanta.  She received a Juris Doctorate in Law from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and studied law at Cambridge University in England. Holly is also Accredited in Public Relations by the Public Relations Society of America. Holly lives in Siloam Springs with her husband Carey, assistant professor of broadcasting at John Brown University and son, Ethan. When she’s not chasing after Ethan, she can be found assisting her husband with his documentary film projects or visiting her family in Jonesboro.

    Don arrived as a Soderquist team member March 2008. He works with leaders helping them understand the practical solutions the Center can offer to meet their business and organizational challenges. Don has a diverse background with over 30 years of leadership experience, including serving in the United States Air Force as a Jet Fighter Mechanic and as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer. His expertise also extends from a wide variety of positions, such as: Training Director, Quality Manager, Continuous Improvement Manager, Production Manager, General Manager and Vice President. He has served such organizations as FM Corporation, Northwest Arkansas Community College, and the La-Z-Boy Chair Company. Don is uniquely aware of the challenges facing both non-profit and profit-oriented companies. Don is comfortable working with people from the board room to the operations floor. Don has a Bachelors Degree in Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a Masters Degree in Organizational Development from the University of Phoenix. He is also a Certified Quality Manager and Quality Auditor. Don and his childhood sweetheart, Mary Jane, have two sons. He loves to spend time with family, golfing, fishing, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
