'LeaderSkilz' - The Presentation

We've all seen it. It rears its ugly head at almost every meeting. Fraught with mismatched neon colors, 25 bullet points, and custom animation, it's the hideous PowerPoint presentation. If you're guilty of this, please do us all a favor and stop.

If you want people to remember what you say, you have to deliver remarkable content that connects with their intellect as well as their emotions. Flashy PowerPoint with lots of words only hurts your presentation.

Seth Godin says it well:

"The home run is easy to describe: You put up a slide. It triggers an emotional reaction in the audience. They sit up and want to know what you’re going to say that fits in with that image. Then, if you do it right, every time they think of what you said, they’ll see the image (and vice versa)."
