Lessons from Chick-fil-A

This is a video of the Chick-fil-A Executive Team discussing their experience with The Soderquist Center during an executive retreat at Greystone Estate. (The video itself is an excerpt from Chick-fil-A's annual Operators meeting.)

While we’re flattered to hear them speak so highly of Don Soderquist and The Soderquist Center, it’s also fascinating to hear the leaders of one of the world’s most successful restaurant chains discuss how they can take what they learned and improve an already great company. There is an important lesson we can all learn from the humility of this leadership team. They’re not blinded by their own success. They are continually seeking wisdom and insight from others. That’s probably one of the reasons Chick-fil-A is so successful today.

I was blessed to be there the day this Executive Team visited with Don at Greystone (and was also there when the cup of coffee story happened), and I will tell you this, it doesn't get any better as an executive leadership team than this group. The heart, the authenticity, and drive for excellence this group has is rare and I've not seen another group like them.

What's important to capture here is their intentionality. Their visit with us was not just to hear stories about the good 'ol days. Rather, they had a very specific agenda seeking advice on handling growth, maintaining their values and culture, and the challenges of leadership.

We all could learn a lot by the example they set in and through their company.

What a awesome video. Just today I was struggling with my job, feeling burned out, a little down and depressed, wanting something different in my life. This video has help to remind me why I do what I do, and where I work carries a stronghold across the nation. Being reminded that it's just not about me but about who I serve, God and the people. I am honored to know and see that there are other great leaders, who are using Mr. Sam as a example to run their business, develope great leaders within there work place, teaching humility. It's truly amazing.

I was really blessed to hear this video as I know a lot about Chick-Fil-A mnagement, as well as personally knowing Mike Duke, Don, and many of The Soderquist Center Team. It was like I was there at the meeting as all the points resonated with what I know to be right, true, and the representation of the best of American business.
